Started about 30 runners back. Passed most up the first paved hill. Was third into the singletrack. Caught by a runner from the Manchester running club and the top Master around halfway. Let the kid go, traded spots with the older guy for the remainder of the race (he was faster going down, I was faster going up). Another competitive club racer caught us with 1.5 miles to go. Made my move with about 3/4 of a mile to go up the last hill and into the flats. The final quarter mile descent was excruciatingly painful. Passed Georgie just before the finish. Took 4th, ~35 seconds off third place. Not bad for lots of meathead training, almost no running, and being a bit heavy. Wish I never stopped racing three years ago.
Cheryl won her division. Eric and Georgie each finished 7th.
